Morgan has been fighting for American energy since he was a member of the House of Delegates. This has continued since being elected to Congress, standing up for the 9th District’s coal jobs and leading the defense against President Obama’s war on coal.
During his first term in Congress, Morgan successfully passed legislation through the House of Representatives to give businesses more time to comply with costly and burdensome government regulations. Morgan fought the EPA and called out the Department of Energy’s bad loans to failed Solar companies. Since then, Morgan has continued to fight the implementation of EPA regulations that are bankrupting the coal industry.
Morgan also supports the development of oil and natural gas off America’s coast and the Keystone Pipeline. A clean environment and secure energy future are not mutually exclusive. Morgan believes we can develop and utilize our energy resources while still protecting our environment.
Like Ronald Reagan, Morgan believes that peace is best preserved through strength. He supports the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces by fighting to make sure every single defense dollar is spent wisely. He believes the U.S. should stand by its ally Israel.
Morgan is also fighting to make sure the President operates within the bounds of the Constitution. The Constitution grants Congress the power to declare war and Morgan believes the President should seek Congressional approval for any military engagement other than a short term emergency.
As a father, Morgan understands firsthand how precious innocent life is. Morgan consistently defended innocent life while serving in the General Assembly, building a solid record of voting for the pro-life position. In Congress, Morgan has stood up to the pro-abortion lobby and continued to defend innocent human life.
Morgan remains firmly opposed to Obamacare and has repeatedly voted to repeal this disastrous program.
Morgan has worked to improve access to safe and affordable quality health care by helping write bills to make pharmacies safer, protect black lung benefits and keep rural community hospitals open.
Congressman Griffith is a fighter for Senior citizens. Social Security is an agreement between the US government and the American worker, a contract that says that we will pay a with-holding tax on our income and the government will pay us back our money with interest once we reach retirement age.
Social Security benefits must be protected, but the institution is in trouble. Congressman Griffith is dedicated to ensuring its long-term solvency. This means common sense reforms to the system that effect only future retirees but guarantees the longevity of the Social Security system.
Likewise, we must make sure that Medicare continues to exist for the next generation of Senior citizens. We must protect this program.
We need to be using modern technology to stop the billions of dollars that seniors are being cheated out of each year in Medicare fraud. Those who claim to provide services to the needy but who in fact are cheats are amongst the vilest of non-violent criminals. As criminals become more adept at using technology to steal, the government needs to step up efforts to catch them and punish them. We need to be using the same modeling technology to catch Medicare fraud that credit card companies are using to catch fraudulent charges.
