28 Oct Griffith Receives “Manufacturing Legislative Excellence” Award
CHRISTIANSBURG , VA – Congressman Morgan Griffith has received the National Association of Manufacturers “Manufacturing Legislative Excellence” award, for his leadership on issues important to manufacturers. This award honors members of Congress who demonstrate support for policies that enhance the ability of U.S. manufacturers to succeed in the global economy.
“Manufacturing is still a vital industry to Southwest Virginia, despite the difficulties this sector has seen in recent years. I am proud to stand up for Southwest Virginia Manufacturing,” said Griffith. “The regulatory policies coming out of Washington have made it tougher to do business in America, and many of Southwest Virginia’s jobs have gone overseas. I am working to roll back those regulations so we can protect and attract new jobs to our region.”
Griffith received a 90% rating from the NAM. The grade was based on key manufacturing votes determined by the NAM’s Key Vote Advisory Committee, composed of executives from small, mid-sized, and large manufacturing companies.
“Over 41,000 people in Southwest Virginia are employed in the manufacturing industry. These jobs have a huge impact on our region’s economy, and I will continue to stand up for these jobs in the future,” said Griffith.
According to the National Association of Manufacturers, there are 415 manufacturing facilities in Southwest Virginia, employing over 41,000 people.
